Description

Soft footsteps patter down the empty hallway as racking sobs force their way through her throat.  The betrayal hurt more than the transformation itself, and the abandonment left her with no friends, no allies.  She was irreversibly changed, and there was no one able or willing to help her.

At least the house was hers, they said.  At least she had the machines inside.  The technology was incomplete, but it worked, and it was hers to own.  As if the very setting and tools of her injury could be considered compensation, or consolation for that matter.

She finds herself outside before she realized it.  The rain was pouring, the water pouring over her fur, mixing with the tears that continued to pour from her eyes.  She used to love the water, but her new nature came with its own quirks, and she felt revulsed by the wet feeling, of the puddles that she found her bare feet in, and that amplified her grief even more.

Lightning flashed nearby, and the immediate crash of thunder snapped through her.  She had the machines.  She also had all of the papers that detailed how they worked.  She wasn’t as dim or dumb as her former co-workers, or “friends”, thought.  Most importantly, she also had a list of said friends.

The sobs settled into a soft purr.  Large eyes narrowed into focus, taking in the view of her surroundings, clear despite the near darkness.  An expressive, prehensile tail flicked about, whipping off the water almost playfully as a single thought burned in her mind.

”If there can’t be justice, I’ll have to settle for revenge…”

The latest installment in :iconjkrolak: ’s saga of Dr. Kitty is actually a prelude, showing her when she herself was a victim, of the moment that started her on her own path.

It’s always nice to be able to put in a bit of story, based on the commission treatment, and I’m never left wanting for details.  It definitely makes it easier to conceptualize the images and execute them.  Commissions like this are always fun to work on.
