These are the pencils for Variable Edge: The Impossible Girl, the first main story for the Variable Edge series.

Yes, finally.

This is essentially the cover image, and one of the more important aspects of my lopsided way of drawing stories (notice I didn't say "writing stories"). My "covers" are usually a visual synopsis of everything I want to include in the story itself, and I pretty much go from there.

By my (hopeful) reckoning, the book will have pencilled art with digital colors, with more of a splotchy painty feeling than smoothly rendered colors. Because that's just so me. :XD:

Amantha and Paige are obviously there, as well as my Mechan Zombie, not to mention an non-transformed Knight, but who are the other people?

Hopefully I'll be able to tell you someday soon. :)

The zombie reminds me of an Eva (Neon Genesis Evangelion, for those unfamiliar.)

...tough cookie fan, are we? :)

Can't really do the skinny armored thing without the eventual comparison to an Eva. Adding the mouth didn't help much either! :D

But I'm hoping the final execution of the story helps it stand on its own despite the comparisons.

Everything has it's influence and comparisons are inevitable. Have confidence in your creative voice. I embrace mine... it's harder for them to hit me when I poke fun at them that way.

Seriously though, it can be a valuable tool... how else do we learn?

Trust yourself. ^^
