Doctor Who- Step 3

Description

Step 3-

To be honest, I found that the file I had after Step 2 was rather unworkable, so I ended up scrapping the colors, and starting over from scratch.

I divide the artwork into multiple layers, assigned to different parts of the drawing, such as The Doctor's coat, his suit, and his head and hands, for example. I fill those layers with a flat gray shade, so I can just select those parts at will.

On a separate layer, I do the actual painting. I select each piece in turn, and render it as completely as I can, but with rather simple lights and shadows. It helps that I have a consistent idea of what I want the piece to look like upon completion. Extreme shadows and lighting effects will follow later on.

The main background is a gradient, used to give me a general view of the lighting intended for the final piece. I opted to cool off the background colors so that The Doctor and Jack will pop out more (especially since they are the main focus for the request).

From here, I'm going to be rendering the TARDIS, the Daleks and the rest of the background. Please stay tuned! :D
